The European project around the OFDM signals has been developed in France Telecom R&D (actually Orange labs) in Rennes.
System of signals has been simulated under COSSAP system
Multi path propagation models have been used for transmitter – receiver simulations.
Different team worked with multiple annex problems around OFDM signals: turbo coding, source coding, PAPR reduction, efficient equalizers, etc..
Multiple patents (notably on Turbo coding) have been created that time in FT R&D. The centre was well known all around the France and Europe.
The applications of OFDM we can see now almost everywhere: 4G, 5G, WiFi, WLAN, etc.
My participation in project.
The purpose of my mission was diminishing the PAPR (Peak-to-Average Power Ratio) that is one of the most harmful features of OFDM signal.
The following methods have been investigated by me:
- Spectral effective envelopes
- Clipping and filtering
- Selective mapping (SLM)
- Partial transmit sequence (PTS),
- Linear block coding (LBC)
- Peak insertion (PI)
Environment and techniques used in project
Environment: C, Matlab, COSSAP, simulation chains
Techniques : channel, coding, OFDM, digital filtering
Main results:
PAPR has been reduced on 2..5 dB for some modulation cases.
