You Are Here:3GPP standardization project

3GPP standardization is the set of international committees that controls the development of different standards of mobile phones: 2G (GSM/GPRS/EDGE), 3G (UMTS), 4G(LTE), 5G.

3GPP englobes different groups, notably of physical layer, L2, L3 protocols, etc. People who work in these sections are normally the recognized experts in their domains from the famous telecommunication manufactures like Nokia, Samsung, Motorola, Huaway, SonyEricsson, etc.

The purpose of the meeting is to develop the transmitter algorithms and to suggest some demodulation methods basing principally on the open source and investigations published in IEEE sources.

My participation in project

I’ve participated from Sierra Wireless. The purpose was to understand the last tendencies in new Releases, to anticipate the new obligatory features and probably to propose some efficient solutions .

In parallel the purpose was to understand, which features could be applicable to M2M solutions of Sierra Wireless.

The projects that time (2009..2011) were dedicated to Releases 7..9. For example, the projects 2G+ were in the stage of development, it means using the 2G network with the spectral effective signal envelops and modulation techniques. Sierra Wireless was particularly interested to SAIC and DARP-2 solutions implementation.

Contacts with colleagues from different countries have been established.
